October 2023 – Free Camping – 1 night.
Located on the Calder Highway in Ouyen, Victoria just over the South Australian/Victorian border. It is easy to miss the entry point, luckily there are two of them.
Stub Tank Bushland Reserve is located 12km south of Ouyen along the Calder Highway, turn left at the junction of the Sunraysia Highway to stay on the Calder Highway and you will find the entrance to your left.
No facilities provided just the way free camping should be. Once you are in just pick a suitable place to park and enjoy the serenity. Even though you are close to the road, you are far enough away to not really hear any traffic noise.
After we had set up, we enjoyed a walk around the reserve and then settled in for dinner. As we were there during spring, we were lucky enough to catch some wildflowers. This camping spot is ideal as a stopover while you are travelling to your next destination.
