Blackdown Tableland

We were recommended by our friends Kevin and Stephanie to visit Blackdown Tableland National Park. It is located 180km west of Rockhampton and 110km east of Emerald. It rises high above the surrounding plains with beautiful gorges and waterfalls.

The road up is only 6km from the base of the tableland and it winds and climbs steeply. Although the road up is sealed, once in the park it is not.

This would have been the highlight of our holiday. One of the most serene places we have been to. We camped at Munall campground and walked all around the area on the designated walks. The walk to Gudda Gumoo was a beautiful 1.8km walk to the lookout and a further 2km walk to the 240 steps down to the waterfall. We took a picnic lunch and sat by the falls. If only it wasn’t another 4km walk back up to the car park, I would have enjoyed some champagne there!
