Jugiong was first settled in the 1820’s. Jugiong is situated on a large almost complete loop in the Murrumbidgee River, into which Jugiong Creek flows just above the town and is conveniently located along the Hume Highway in a picturesque village, it reminded me of an English village.

We highly recommend this camp area which is located on the south side of town. There is a donation box near the toilets. During the summer months when the swimming pool is open you can use their hot showers for a small fee. This location is run by the Jugiong Advancement Group and they do an amazing job in keeping the grounds and facilities clean and tidy.

The town is right across the road, and you will be spoilt for choice of places to eat or shop, plus it is a great to walk around and get those steps up on your fitness watch. We really enjoyed our meal and time at the Sir George Tavern which was built in 1845.

You can choose to camp on the oval as we did which is generally level. Or you can go down by the river where you will need to choose your spot carefully and chock up. There is very limited shade on the oval but there were more choices for shade down by the river. We found it easier to park on the oval due to the slope down by the river. Personally I would have preferred it down by the river but you would need to be there early.

We took a walk around the Showgrounds talking to fellow travellers, the river is really pretty with some horses nearby.

After we left Jerilderie, we called into Narrandera and stopped for lunch at the Marie Bashir Park which is another very RV Friendly town. They had a Tiger Moth Memorial in the park and we camped overnight in Wagga Wagga before arriving at Jugiong.
